Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Colossians 1:9

Happy New Year 2010

I can't believe that 2010 is here. But before we get to far into this new year, I wanted to go back and celebrate the amazing blessing 2009 was for Jeff and me. 2009, with the exception of our wedding date in 1998, was the best and most pivitol year for us. This was the year that our 9 year prayer was answered. It was answered in the way of Finley Grace Montana! In September, the Lord gave us this precious gift, and we could not be more thankful. I hope in the next few posts on this blog, to update you on the amazing journey the Lord has been taking us on and to describe to you the events that led to our becoming a family. Happy and Blessed New Year to each of you!

Starting the nursery

Dear Sweet Finley Grace,

Today is August 18th, one month before you are scheduled to be born. I can't believe in one short month I am going to be a mommy. I have waited for this day for a very long time! Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of being a mommy and now you are my dream come true!
Daddy and I put your crib together today. I have been working hard all week getting your nursery cleaned out. This room, before it was your nursery, was my "beach" room. It was blue and had sea shells in it. I decorated it after one of my trips to Destin, Florida. I had crisp white linens, whispy grasses, and my sand collection in it. But now it is completely changing and it has been so much fun putting your nursery together.

Tomorrow, Ms. Kelly is bringing your baby bedding over. She has been so sweet to help me pick out the perfect fabrics, trims, and seamtresses. I can't wait to put it all together.

Daddy also put your glider chair together tonight and got to sit in your room. I think he liked it because he sat there and rocked for just a few extra minutes before he got back to work. We both keep imagining what it will be like when we get to bring you home! I also set up a little side table beside your chair that is covered in the fabric my Home Team (H.T.) friends used at your 1st baby shower. They hosted the most beautiful shower at Ms. Susan's house. The fabric from your table was in the center of the food table. They had pink gerber daisies and precious petit-fores. The food was wonderful and most importantly all of my sweet Christian friends from Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), Summer Bible Study, and H.T. were there. It was a very special day for me!

My H.T. friends are also coming over this weekend to help me paint your nursery. I never knew there were so many shades of PINK! I must have brought home 50 paint-swatch-cards from Home Depot. I finally narrowed it to 5 and painted those samples on the walls. Some of the samples were named "Misty Meadow" or "Cameo Pink". There was "Antique Pearl", "Coral Stone", and "Malibu Coast". I just didn't want your walls to look like pepto bismol or cotton candy. I think I have found a shade I like that's creamy and has a soft pink hue. Gem, Aunt Ali, Emily and Clara Grace will also be here this weekend to help us paint. We have the Bunko shower Friday night, then the painting Saturday morning, a shower at Aunt Stasia's with all of Nana's sweet friends, then a shower Sunday evening with the Fellowship Usher team. There are a lot of people who already love you and are excited to celebrate your arrival.

And I too, sweet baby girl, already love you with all of my heart. I pray for you everyday and pray you are growing strong and healthy. I pray that the Lord is knitting you together perfectly in the womb and that the days will be short until I hold you in my arms. Sleep well tonight Finley Grace, and know I think about you every minute of everyday.

I Love You,

Mommy
